Skylla Seconds (1/2 lb)

Skylla Seconds, same color as our standard but in imperfect rods.

Skylla is a silver striking and copper ruby glass based on the popular test batch TK-645 and a relative of Terranova 2.

The silver strike produces bright blues, purples and teals while the copper ruby produces reds when applied in thin layers all the way to black if thickly applied.

Skylla has several improvements over our previous silver/copper striking colors. The colors are brighter, the reset is complete, the nucleation is heterogeneous and the copper ruby is redder.

The example bead was made with thin stripes of Skylla over a base of white and encased in Aether 2.

Skylla Striking Tips
For best results follow the striking sequence:

  • Reset in a hot flame
  • Cool until the glow fades
  • Reheat at the tip of the flame

Our second quality rods are less than perfect in shape. They may be too large, too small, too short, chipped, twisted or have an inclusion. They have all passed both our compatibility test and our color test, just not our pretty rod test.

This glass seconds are just exactly the same as first quality. Wonderful opportunity to work with beautiful glass and get more items for same money. Thank you very much! Skylla is very easy to work with and get nice colors with minimum of skills.
